According to BBC News Ex-political journalist John Sergeant has pulled out of BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing because winning would have been "a joke too far", he has said. The 64-year-old has received strong support from the public since the show started, but the judges have been critical of his dancing. He will return on Saturday's show for a "farewell dance". BBC One controller Jay Hunt told journalists the BBC had "every intention of reimbursing people" who had voted for Sergeant during the series. Money raised by calls to Strictly Come Dancing goes to Children In Need. Be sure to check out Rachel and Dance partner Vincent on Saturdays Strictly Come Dancing!! |

RACHEL Stevens’ fiancι Alex Bourne has been banned from Strictly Come Dancing because he’s jealous of dance partner Vincent Simone. After finishing in the bottom two with Heather Small last week, Rachel, 30, is determined to perform the show’s steamiest rhumba tonight. But their raunchy moves have left boyfriend Alex’s nose severely out of joint. Now Vincent, 29, has barred the actor, 31, from rehearsals and the live show, telling producers that “he’s upsetting my love mojo”. A top source told TV Biz: “Rachel and Vincent are practising a really steamy dance but Alex didn’t like it. The rhumba is about love so they’re trying to spice it up and make it really passionate. “But Rachel was finding it hard to get in the mood when Alex was watching their every move like a hawk, so eventually Vincent asked him to leave.” |

SHAMED S CLUB 7 singer JO O'MEARA was left with a gaping two-inch head wound after a bottle was hurled at her during a gig. The 29-year-old involved in last year’s Celebrity Big Brother race row collapsed to her knees and had to be helped off the stage. Jo and bandmates BRADLEY MCINTOSH and PAUL CATTERMOLE had been on for only 15 minutes at Tokyo nightclub in Bradford, West Yorks, when she was struck by the glass. She was helped away by Paul, 31, as Bradley, 27, yelled at the 900-strong crowd: “It takes just one idiot to ruin everybody’s night. “If you are going to throw a glass, throw it at me...you had to spoil it.” Jo was rushed to hospital but later allowed to return to her London home. She said: “We were all having a great time until the incident and would like to apologise to fans that our set was cut short.” A 20-year-old white male grabbed by club bouncers was yesterday being quizzed by cops. Police are trying to establish if the assault was connected to last January’s Big Brother race storm, which saw Indian actress SHILPA SHETTY bullied by housemates Jo, JADE GOODY and DANIELLE LLOYD. Jo was one of only three of the original S Club 7 who had hits with Reach and Don’t Stop Movin’ to join in the reunion tour. - The Sun |

It seems the S Club 7 reunion tour (which, you may recall, only features three of them Jo, Bradley and Paul) is not going well. We’ve just been told that their show last night in Bradford was forced to end dramatically after an audience member threw a glass object at Jo O’Meara. Uh-oh, we had a feeling her attempts to resurrect her career might be a bit iffy following that whole Celebrity Big Brother race furore. This is the official word from the S Club people: At 01:35 on Thursday 13th November, former S Club 7 singer Jo O’Meara suffered a minor injury whilst performing at Tokyo nightclub in Bradford, with former bandmates Bradley McIntosh and Paul Cattermole, as part of the sold-out nationwide S Club Party Tour. The group were 15 minutes into their 25-min set when the incident happened whilst performing the No.1 hit single Never Had a Dream Come True. A white male, thought to be approximately 19 years old, was arrested for throwing a glass object at the stage and is being questioned by Bradford Police. Immediately after the incident, the accused made an apology to Miss O’Meara claiming the incident was an “accident” and he “meant her no harm”. Miss O’Meara was driven to Bradford Royal Infirmary by Aaron Mellor, managing director of Tokyo Industries, where she received treatment for a two inch gash to her head, the injury didn’t require stitches. Aaron Mellor says: “My company owns ten venues across the UK and we had the S Club Tour at our Oldham site last week. The gig sold out so we immediately rebooked them for Bradford. The gig was going really well until one individual had to spoil the fun for everybody else. Jo, Bradley and Paul are the nicest people you could wish to work with, they are friendly and professional and I will be booking them in for my other sites during December. Jo was clearly very shocked by the event, as anybody would be, but her band mates were very supportive and totally cooperated with my staff and with the police”. Bradford Police have visited the venue this morning to gather CCTV footage and the accused continues to be questioned. Matt Wynter, agent at Action Talent who represents the S Club Tour, says, “The 25 date tour has been a huge success with every venue selling out. We have a full diary until the end of the year, and have a larger tour booked in for May-June 2009. This incident will not affect the rest of the tour”. Jo O’Meara, Bradley McIntosh and Paul Cattermole say, “We were all having a great time In Bradford until the incident happened and we would like to apologise to our fans that our set was cut short”. |

Rachel Stevens was a "sobbing wreck" after being in the bottom two on Strictly. The singer's family and friends were worried as she wept uncontrollably backstage after her dance-off with Heather Small. A show source said: "Rachel was shaking and devastated. She survived and Heather went, but it has shaken her confidence and now she knows she probably won't win. "She was in tears and sobbing for ages afterwards - she looked wrecked. "Her dance partner Vincent had to be firm and told her to pull it together." It was the first time that bookies' favourite Rachel, 30, had been in the last two. |
